Improving Shea Processing Technology Enhancing Productivity and Reducing Labor for Women
The Challenge
Traditional shea butter processing methods are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and inefficient.
Women often spend long hours producing small quantities of shea butter while also facing health and environmental risks from traditional processing techniques.
Our Intervention
DFWC established the Envirofit Shea Butter Processing Centre to introduce improved processing technologies that increase efficiency and productivity.
The project includes:
- Installation of improved shea processing equipment
- Training women on modern processing techniques
- Improving production quality and efficiency
- Promoting environmentally friendly processing methods
The Impact
- Women reduced processing time significantly.
- Shea butter production increased in both quantity and quality.
- Improved technologies reduced physical strain on women.
- Women gained better access to higher-value markets.
Why It Matters
Modern processing technology allows women to increase productivity, improve product quality, and earn higher incomes from shea production.
Partnership Opportunities
Future partners can support:
- Expansion of processing centers
- Provision of modern processing equipment
- Technical training for women processors
- Access to premium international markets
