When Women Understand Their Rights

In many rural communities, women face harmful cultural practices and limited awareness of their rights.

But knowledge is power.

Through rights awareness and community education programs by Development Frontiers Women Cooperatives, women are learning how to protect themselves and support each other.

Meet Tahiru Amina: Standing Strong in Techipe

Tahiru Amina remembers a time when many women in her community did not know where to seek help when facing abuse or harmful practices.

“We thought it was something we had to endure,” she explains.

A Turning Point: Rights Awareness Training

DFWC organized community sessions that educated women on:

  • Women’s rights
  • Personal safety
  • Preventing harmful practices
  • Community support systems

For Amina, the training was empowering.

“Now we know our rights, and we know how to protect each other.”
